4.0/5.0 Took a group of coworkers there for happy hour on a Friday. We felt a little under-dressed for the crowd there, which was definitely 2nd Street District... more

3.0/5.0 Really pretty... I would love this to be my downtown loft hideaway. Awesome open space with lots of plants, great expanses of glass, nice modern... more

User Reviews for Malverde

May 25, 2009 - After hearing about this place from a friend I had to check it out. I went on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend so maybe it was better then it should of been, but I loved the place. Every inch of the place was meticulously designed to bring the most character it possibly could. Everyone looked they were having a good time which helped the ambiance. They had lots of natural plants which made the place feel warm. I enjoyed the music and the terrace. The great thing about malverde is there is various types of seating and although different blend nicely together. I enjoyed the terrace and how the outside flows with the inside. It's done so tastefully you might not realize your even outside. I think this place will grow in popularity and next time I will stay longer and bring my wife.

May 16, 2009 - In search of a diversion from our usual West 6th St hang outs, my friends and I followed a recommendation to check out Malverde. This swanky lounge is very congruent with what the 2nd Street District is trying to bring to the city - a sort of uptown-Dallas-like atmosphere, minus the pretentiousness (well, hopefully at least).
From the stair climb up, you already know the place you're about to step into will be visually pleasing. I would urge anyone to stop and look around at a lot of the design details that have been put into Malverde (apparently a Michael Hsu design). This venue tries to blend the outdoors with the indoors, it reminds me of what a patio would look like of a very modern and upscale home. The lighting is dim and cozy, and the space flows pretty well from one end to the other. The terrace is a nice touch, but the nice view is soon to be obstructed by the W hotel. Still, better to have a patio than not.
The bartenders were pretty quick and nice, and drink prices were reasonable. I wouldn't exactly say Malverde is suited for a balls to the wall party, it's too 'loungy' for that. The vibe is more chill with your friends, bring a date here, start your night off kinda thing. I did notice a lot of older guys with significantly younger girls. I think said guys are more in their 'element' at a place like this than, say, West 6th.
Anyhow, Malverde will definitely be a repeat for my friends and I. Kudos.
